We have a winner. And it's a good one.
Last week we offered to build one Buncombe County business or nonprofit a brand new website. Free, start to finish, no catch. Nominations came in all week, and picking just one was harder than we expected.
THE WINNER
Western North Carolina Pilots Association Educational Foundation
A 501(c)(3) that awards grants to student pilots right here in the mountains, covering flight training for people who otherwise could not afford to get in the air.
They were nominated by George, a reader who made the case better than we could have.

Flight training runs into the tens of thousands of dollars, which quietly closes the cockpit door on a lot of talented people. This foundation exists to prop that door back open, one grant at a time.
It is exactly the kind of organization we hoped this would find: real local impact, run largely by volunteers, and doing far more good than their current website lets on. We're building the new one now, and we'll show it off here once it goes live.
