Happy Wednesday, Buncombe County.
If you have stepped outside lately and immediately wanted to go back in, you are not alone. It is properly cold across North Carolina and the U.S. right now, the kind of cold that makes even simple plans feel ambitious.
That said, Buncombe County is still giving us plenty of reasons to bundle up and get out. This week’s Digest is packed with cozy culture and easy outings that pair well with a warm drink and minimal effort. Think of it as your shortcut to doing something fun without fully committing to winter bravery.

🎶 Joyful Noise Listening Lounge and Kitchen is Coming to the RAD

Photo By: Joyful Noise Listening Lounge
The River Arts District is about to get a new kind of gathering space, and it sounds like one worth paying attention to. Joyful Noise Listening Lounge and Kitchen is preparing to open in the RAD, blending high quality sound, awesome tunes, and a thoughtfully designed food and drink experience. This is not just another bar with music playing in the background. The focus is on actually listening, whether that means curated vinyl sessions, album focused evenings, or relaxed sound forward events that invite people to slow down and be present.
Joining forces here will be Summit Coffee. For 16 months since Hurricane Helene broke down the walls at their OG River Arts District cafe, they’ve been waiting to bring a warm, welcoming, caffeine-and-vibes fueled space back to y’all. Summit Coffee by day, listening lounge by night.
The kitchen side is expected to complement the lounge atmosphere with well considered dishes that work just as well for lingering as they do for a casual night out. For a neighborhood already known for creativity and experimentation, this feels like a natural next step. Once open, Joyful Noise has the potential to become a go to spot for people who love music, coffee, conversation, and spaces that bring everyone together. This is one to bookmark and watch closely as opening details are announced.
