Hello Buncombe County!
Wedding planning often lives in spreadsheets, Pinterest boards and a dozen browser tabs. On Wall Street in downtown Asheville, The Wedding Edit has a different idea: a showroom where couples can sit down, touch the linens and see the colors in person. It is run by cousins Terran Ward and Tanya Gossett, both Asheville natives with more than a decade in the wedding industry. We asked them how it came together.

Tell us the story behind your business. What inspired you to start it, and how did it all begin?
The Wedding Edit began with a conversation between two cousins who shared a passion for weddings and more than a decade of experience in the industry. As Asheville natives, we grew up with a deep appreciation for our community and the beauty of Western North Carolina. Through our years working in events, we saw how meaningful, exciting and sometimes overwhelming wedding planning can be.
We created The Wedding Edit to bring back the personal side of planning. In an increasingly digital world, there is something special about sitting down together, touching fabrics, exploring design ideas and working through the details in person.
That vision became a wedding planning and design studio in downtown Asheville that brings together thoughtful planning, intentional design, curated rentals and an immersive showroom. Our goal is for couples to feel they do not have to figure it all out on their own.

Why Buncombe County? What made you choose this area to plant roots?
For us, Asheville is not just a place to do business. It is home. We are both Asheville natives, so building The Wedding Edit here feels especially meaningful, and we have a deep appreciation for the natural beauty, creative spirit and talent that make Western North Carolina such a special place to live and celebrate.
Asheville's thriving wedding and hospitality industry also gave us a chance to bring something new to the local market: a space where couples can plan and design in a hands-on way while connecting with the talented local vendors who make celebrations here so memorable. Opening our showroom downtown lets us invest in the community that helped shape us.

What's something about your business that most people don't know?
The Wedding Edit is about much more than planning a beautiful wedding. Our downtown showroom was designed to bring back the personal side of planning. Couples can sit down with us, explore linens and tabletop designs, see textures and color palettes in person and work through ideas together, rather than trying to picture everything through a screen.
With more than a decade in the wedding industry, we have seen how easily couples can feel overwhelmed by decisions, inspiration and expectations. We want planning to feel more approachable, creative and enjoyable, so every couple leaves more confident and excited than when they arrived.

What's been your biggest challenge as a small business owner here?
Bringing a vision to life that does not fit the traditional mold of a wedding planning business. We built several pieces at once, from our services and technology to designing and renovating the physical showroom.
As small business owners you wear many hats. Some days it is creative decisions, and the next it is construction, operations or technology. Those challenges have also been some of our greatest lessons, and we are grateful to the local vendors, businesses and community members who supported our vision along the way.

What's been your most rewarding moment so far?
Seeing our downtown showroom come to life and officially opening our doors. For so long The Wedding Edit existed as conversations, sketches and mood boards, so walking into a finished space that represents everything we worked toward is hard to describe.
Our ribbon cutting was especially special because we got to celebrate the milestone alongside the community and the people who supported us throughout the process.

What's next for you? Anything exciting coming up that readers should know about?
We are just getting started. The Wedding Edit is part of TWE Collective, which brings together our two companies, TW Events and The Wedding Edit, for everything from corporate and social events to thoughtfully planned and designed weddings.
With the showroom open, we are welcoming more couples, connecting with local vendors, expanding our Curated Events rental collections and developing our wedding planning technology. We also plan to host creative experiences, collaborations and special events in the showroom.
